We now know the official names of two new local schools currently under construction in Clyde!
Last week, the State Government announced the new names of nine schools across Victoria, all set to open in 2022. This included the two new local schools that Riverfield residents will shortly be sending their children. They are: Clyde Creek Primary School (formerly Clyde North Station Primary School) and Clyde Secondary College (formerly Clyde North Station Secondary College).
The names were chosen in collaboration with the community and Geographic Names Victoria following community consultation earlier in the year. Criteria included elements of public interest, relevance to the local area, and the consideration of local Indigenous languages. In the end, each school’s geographic location inspired the official names.
Construction for both schools is currently underway, and principals have recently been appointed for each institution. Enrolments are currently open at Clyde Secondary College for students who will be starting Grade 7 in 2022. Additionally, enrolments are anticipated to open shortly for students in Prep – Grade 6 who wish to attend Clyde Creek Primary School.
Another noteworthy development for Riverfield families, a new kinder is currently under construction right next door to the Clyde Creek Primary School! Eliston Family and Community Centre (interim name). The facility will provide early education, maternal, child health and family services, supported playgroups, occasional care, community meeting spaces and counselling. Not to mention, it’ll make the transition from pre-school to big school a smooth one for the kids, and ease the drop-off rush for parents!
Riverfield residents can visit the Find My School website to check their school zoning, simply type in Riverfield’s address and search!
