At Riverfield, creating a community that celebrates the natural environment and local heritage is an important part of our vision for Clyde’s future. As our community continues to grow, we’re excited to share the proposed names for three key open space areas within Riverfield and invite residents to provide their feedback.
Proposed Names for Riverfield’s Open Spaces
The following names have been proposed for two Cultural Heritage Reserves and Riverfield’s Greenlink:
Melliodora Reserve
Stage 25 Cultural Heritage Reserve
This small park with its own pathway and landscaping takes its name from Eucalyptus Melliodora – better known as yellow box, honey box or yellow ironbark. It’s a native tree of south-eastern Australia, with its spawling branches offering essential habitat and food to native wildlife, making it a symbol for support and community spirit.
Flax Lily Reserve
Greenlink, Cerulean Promenade
Forming a linear reserve, complete with pathway and landscaping, this park takes its references from the Flax Lily – the common name for the Dianella genus. There are around 40 species of Flax Lily, roughly half of them native to Australia, making it a fitting tribute to the local greenery that will soon frame this space.
Papaya Reserve
Stage 27 Cultural Heritage Reserve
Currently vacant land, which will be fitted with bench seating and landscaping, Papaya Park takes its inspiration straight from its location on Papaya Way. A small but meaningful way to tie this future green space to its own corner of the neighbourhood.
Community Feedback Now Open
The naming of public places is an important step in shaping the identity of our community. As part of the formal naming process, residents and the wider community now have the opportunity to review the proposed names and provide feedback.
If you support the proposed names, or if you wish to lodge an objection, we encourage you to participate in the consultation process through the City of Casey’s website.
Please note: Community feedback is only open for 30 days, so we encourage residents to submit their comments before the consultation period closes.
