The Victorian Government made a commitment to deliver 100 new schools between 2019 and 2026, including a brand new high school around the corner from Riverfield!
Located at 80 Woodfield Avenue, Clyde, just minutes from our Riverfield community, Clyde North Station Secondary College (interim name) will be the local high school for many Riverfield families.
Excitingly, construction of the brand new school is now underway, with Hutchinson Builders appointed by the State Government early this year. All going according to plan, the school is set to open in 2022!
Off and away
To start, work will commence on Stage 1 of Clyde North Station Secondary College. This will deliver an administration and learning resource centre building, a STEM building, and performing arts and physical education building. These essential structures will also be accompanied by a learning neighbourhood building, car park, bike shelters, multipurpose hardcourt, and landscaped outdoor play and learning areas.
Once work on Stage 1 is complete, the school will be able to accommodate roughly 575 students. And once all facilities are built, the school will eventually cater for 1,300 local students, including 100 places for students with disabilities.
Inclusivity is key
As a Supported Inclusion School (SIS), Clyde North Station Secondary College will offer additional amenities to support and enhance the learning of students with disability. That includes things like acoustics and lighting designed for the needs of students with particular disabilities, wider corridors, fitness rooms for physical education and therapy, and much more. All measures designed to ensure every student at the school enjoys a safe, accessible and supportive environment.
Time for school!
We can hardly wait to see this new school come to life. We imagine many of our future residents feel the same! Enrolments are now open for students attending year 7 in 2022.
